Context

A nationwide network of official academies cannot live on training alone: it needs matches. In 2001, one year after the first contract with Flamengo, the first official tournament of the C.R. Flamengo Official Academies took place, and with it Copa Fla was born.

What began as a tournament became a circuit: today Copa Fla follows the network athlete through every level of competition, from the stage in their own city to the Maracanã pitch.

The challenge

Organizing official competition for a network present across the entire country: age categories, standardized rules and refereeing, units from very different contexts competing on equal footing, and a calendar that holds up year after year.

And at every stage, from the neighborhood field to the stadium, the same commitment: the experience has to live up to the Flamengo brand.

Time Forte's role

Time Forte designs and produces the Copa Fla circuit with the same team that structures the network day to day. The competition is organized in levels: local and municipal stages, played in the cities where the network operates; regional and state stages, bringing together academies from the same region; the Copa Fla Brasil, the national stage, created in 2011; and Copa Fla Maraca, the pinnacle of the circuit at the Maracanã stadium.

At each level the athlete climbs one step, and the production follows: accreditation, fixtures, refereeing, ceremony and the brand experience from the first whistle to the last.

Results

Copa Fla became the competitive backbone of the network's calendar: the moment when training turns into matches and the promise of being official is delivered on the field. In 2011, the circuit reached national scale with the first Copa Fla Brasil; in 2018, the final arrived at the Maracanã stadium.

Today the pinnacle of the circuit is Copa Fla Maraca, which brings athletes from all over the country to Gávea and the Maracanã, with the full experience of a professional club.

Next chapter

The circuit keeps growing alongside the network: new stages follow the expansion of the official academies. For local partners, it is the gateway to producing official sport in their own city.
